Abhyaṅgam
Abhyaṅgam: Abhyaṅgam is the process of application of medicated oils on the head and body followed by gentle massage in specific positions and directions by a trained therapist. It is done as a single treatment as well as a preparation for or along with major treatments. Duration of abhyaṅgam is 45 min and is followed by warm water bath. The treatment is done for 1, 7, 14 or 21 days to suit the medical conditions. The physician will decide the treatment after thorough examination and select the medicated oils suitable for you. 
Indications: General debility / Weakness, Loss of Sleep, Dry Skin, Enhances Blood Circulation, Nervous System Disorders etc. 

Śirobasti: 
Shirobasti
śirobasti is a special technique of administration of medicated oil over the head. It is the most intensive & potent external treatment. A cap made of flexible leather, open on both sides is fitted on the head and suitable medicated oil, slightly warm is poured into the cap. The oil is allowed to remain inside the cap for around 45 min or till the manifestation of proper signs of effective treatment are observed. The treatment is done for 7 days. 

Indications: Facial Palsy, Paralysis, Cervical Spondylitis, Insomnia, Snoring, High Blood Pressure, Eyes Nose and Throat Disorders, Frozen Shoulder, etc. 

Kizhi:
Kizhi (Patra Pinda Sweda)
Kizhi means ‘bundle’. This treatment is meant to induce perspiration. The bundles are made out of Herbal powders, Medicinal Leaves, special variety of rice etc. Kizhi treatment starts with oil application on the head & body. The Kizhi is then heated in a pan with suitable taila or herbal juices and applied on patients body by the therapists in a special method. It is applied in such a way that Kizhi reaches the affected part of the body except the face and head. 

Indications: Pain in the Joints, Sport Injuries, Traumatic Pains, Arthritis, Muscle Spasms, Sprains, Cramps, Frozen Joints, Stiffness of Joints, Paralysis etc.

In this treatment the medicated oils / milk / buttermilk / decoctions are made to flow in a stream, continuously on the forehead of the patient in a rhythmic and oscillatory movements. The treatment starts with oil application on the head and body. Following this the medicated fluid is poured into dhara pot after heating to mild warm condition, for a specific duration. Simultaneously gentle massage is done over the head. 
Indications: Loss of Sleep, Psoriasis, Diabetes, Stress related illnesses, Paralysis, High BP, Neurological diseases etc. 

Nasya: 
Nasya 
Nasya is the procedure in which medications are administered through the nostrils in order to purify the head and neck region. Medicines like oils, pastes, powders, herbal juices, decoctions, infusions. Ayurveda considers Nose as doorway to the head. Being gateway to the head, Nasya is considered to be effective in diseases of Head including five sense organs. There are many varieties in Nasya viz., Purificatory, Palliative and Nourishing. 
Indications: Headache, Migraine, Stiffness of Neck, Shoulder Pain, Lock Jaw, Toothache, Pain in Ear, Nose, Eye, Chronic Sinusitis, Facial Paralysis, Epilepsy, Sleeplessness, Stammering. Diseases of Sense organs. 

Udwarthana
It is a special variety of massage done with a mixture of medicated powder and oil / Medicate juice / milk. In this treatment, prepared medicine is rubbed in specific direction all over the body. The duration is around 45 to 60 minutes. The treatment improves the blood circulation and removes dead skin. It is primarily applied to reduce the body weight. It also helps in curing hemiplegia, neuropathy, diabetes and paralysis. 

Njavara Kizhi: 
Njavara Kizhi / ṣaṣṭika  śāli piṇḍa sveda
A generous amount of medicated oil is applied to the whole body and then the body is massaged with small cotton cloth boluses filled with cooked Njavara rice. The boluses are dipped in this regenerating mixture of cow's milk and a brewed herbal decoction, and then applied all over the body to induce sudation (sweat). This procedure is highly rejuvenating, nourishing and prepares the individual to bear the stresses and strains of a busy lifestyle. It enhances physical consistency, strengthens the nervous system and improves the overall appearance of the skin. 
Duration: Usually done for 7, 14 and 21 days. 
Indications: It is useful for all kinds of Rheumatism, Joint pain, Paralysis, Polio and Congenital deformity of the limbs and dislocation of bones, joints and skin disorders of systemic origin etc. 

Pizhichil: 
Pizhichil is the treatment procedure where cotton cloth pieces are dipped in warm medicated oil and squeezed onto the patients body. Medicated oil is poured onto the body in continuous streams while being gently massaged by four therapists for 45 to 90 minutes. It is extremely soothing and relaxing. It acts as a free radical scavenger, toning, strengthening and deeply rejuvenating the whole body. It increases vitality and immunity. It is a soothing and relaxing procedure. 
Indications: Muscular Diseases, Paraplegia, Hemiplegia and other Vãta dominant ailments.
